Where do I start with this. On October 3rd pei is having a provincial election and to be truthful the only party that's campaign ads are not the spawn of some graphic designer/ photogrphers nightmare is the green party. You don't have a photo of the candidate but you do have all the information you need the candidates name and there party in fact the green party is so simple with there ads the only way their ads can be made better in to cut out there green logo and let your colour due the talking.
On the toppic of colour let me turn to a pair of mailers I got from the PC party for a party with progressive in the name they do believe in one step forward and two giant steps back. Your blue print you did right conservative blue your colour is working for you now here is where you screwed up "seeing red" is a very good name for this mailer because all I think when I see it is liberal I don't even care what it says just proof that colours scream way louder then words.
Now let's pick on the liberals first off your campaign posters have in no way been thought out well. To start it is never good idea to have to have someone in power look like they are sitting on their candidates left shoulder next the background our current premier loots like he has a bad case of head fungus with the provincial flag behind him and finally when you use a nice photo background of clouds it is nice if you could tell that it is a photo.
Finally to rant on the photography conservatives catch lights in the eyes and a little more focus on your background go along way. Liberals I say this all the time that consistency gose along way. First if all your candidate photos were taken by the same person I would have to put that in the political BS file. Half of you look like your orange some of you have distracting lighting mistakes, and some have their eyes out of focus. I have to say that your ad people need to go back to school or out to pasture.
I will end by saying this is all based on my opinion of the ads I don't believe in letting bad ads get between me and politics. I apologize to anyone offended by this but all I am doing is stating the facts the way I see them.

since last time a lot has happened. to start in November i was accepted into the adobe photoshop inspiration gallery 1 of 10. i graduated from Holland college in may. i went ppoc nationals in banf. and finally i started my own youtube Chanel to teach photoshop and photography.

hi all alive studio redesign
hi all
alive studio is going through a redesign this fall mainly for a more user friendly interface. a new web site is being planed out as well as a promo video(school project but it will be fun any way). other then that my summer has been very normal(i studied most of the time) i finished life illuminated for atc, joined project sketch book, and became the head of project: viewings.(more on that later) i am in the middle of trying to put my ppoca images together for shooting. other than that keep your eyes open for ALiVe's new look coming this fall.

new projects
hi all just thought i would let you in on the new projects coming from ALiVe this summer and fall. first is my work for the artist trading cards. i am making a giant 2feet 4 inch high by 5 feet wide photo collage that deals with life around us and the light that fuels life its self. i have been having so much fun with this i have decided to design a whole series. at the moment i have got 2 new concepts planed out one is called power featuring Meany different kinds of energy and showing a part of the power of green. the next one is called play things and is all about play thought age. i still have ideas swirling in my brain so it will be cool to see where this leads me.

Photographer’s kit
Camera? Check, lenses? Check, filters? Check, flash? Check, tripod? Check. Sounds like a check list for an awesome day of shooting but what every day items would be best to take on a shoot gear is one thing but if you are not prepared for shooting in the filed you are not ready for any shoot. In this article I will explain what small items you should always have in a kit when going out in the filed to shoot.
We will start out with what you should have on hand for models. There are 8 things that are the very useful to have when in the filed the first few are very basic and should be in every studio that deals with models: hair elastics, bobby pins, safety pins, and a needle and thread. Hair elastics and bobby pins are two of the things a female model will ask you for the most so it is best to have them on hand with males you normally you will have no problem but they do remain unaware if a lock of hair is out of place so you may need to put it back with a bobby pin. Safety pins and a needle and thread are both very helpful to have if there is a wardrobe malfunction. This rarely happens but when it dose having these items can save your shoot.
The last four items are a little more unusual but are good things to have in a pinch: baby whips, toothpaste, a towel, and a glasses case. First we will start with toothpaste it seems odd to have in your kit but is very helpful if you model gets stung or has a pimple just simply dab a small amount on the affected area and wait a bit well you set up and do test shoots then take the baby whips and clean of the toothpaste. Toothpastes high in baking soda work best and fastest. The last two items are very convent to have at hand. A towel is good to have when doing a shoot involving water or after it just rained this also shows you are caring enough to consider the models comfort. The last is a glasses case if you need a model to take off any jewellery or their glasses this makes sure that they are kept safe and not lost out in the filed.
Your model is number one when dealing with a client but you should also protect your gear the three best items to have on hand for shooting in bad weather are: a space blanket, tent pegs, and a small plastic bag. When shooting in high wind and rain it is nice to stick your gear in a sheltered location but that is not always possible so what do you do? You reach in to you kit and pull out your space blanket and tent pegs set down your gear cover it with the space blanket and pin it down with the tent pegs. Now most pros know this but for the weekend warriors out there when it is raining take a small plastic bag cut a hole in one end for the lenses to go through stick your lenses thought the hole so very little but the face sticks out so that the body and the rest of the lens is covered and protected from rain.

All these items can be very helpful in an outdoor shoot. Bungee cords and rope can be used to more things like tree branches out of your shot. hi all
yet again i have gone over a month with out a post. i have been waiting for good news well hear it is ALiVe has moved to a new location and upgraded and got new gear first off i have finally got a new dslr a canon 7d and it is so nice for the control freak in me, but i still love my rebel it has served me well next up is my new product table and light that i have been to busy this spring to play with. and finally my new filter set with every filter under the sun.
in shoots i have been working weekends and mainly been shooting flowers but last weekend i went up to the wind mills in summerside and spent almost an hour they are so wonderful i do not get why people hate them.
that's it for now i am going to try to post again before the end of the month

summer work
hi all
it's me over work as normal even more so as this week i have been plagued with insomnia. i have got to reshoot some projects and get my portfolio done up time is running out. i am now working on coming up with a concept for a bridal bouquet ad. some good ideas but nothing sticking yet.
